The World Keeps Happening | Tom BallardTom Ballard’s show The World Keeps Happening is everything a thesaurus could pump out at you if you looked up the word funny.

Ballard’s show explores all of the ‘isms’, from racism, to feminism and terrorism, and his questionable solutions to the big issues are so ridiculously funny that you begin to wonder if they might just work. He does this while maintaining a sense of self and divulges stories from his own daily life, stories that are equally funny yet ground the show as a foundation on which his empire of hilarity is built.

Ballard has an amazing physical energy that seems to originate in his body and exit through his mouth. There are times when he leaps, jumps and dare I say it gyrates around the stage and these outbursts of dynamism are flawlessly executed during Ballard’s storytelling. You will laugh long and loud but make sure you are tuned in to the quieter snippets he adds to the ends of his booming sentences. They are easy to miss as you snort laugh your way through the show so catch them if you can.

Ballard is loud but not brash, he is articulate, sharp and rip-snortingly, side splittingly funny. In his own words he was not hot, he was ‘howt’.
